Abdulhadi Turus, President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities, visited the Kapıkule Border Gate and met with citizens entering the country to spend their annual leave in their hometowns. Turus made important statements. He said, "The development of the diaspora, one of the main axes of our foreign policy, is parallel to the development of Türkiye. Therefore, God willing, we will continue to work with our citizens abroad in every field."

Millions of our citizens living in Europe continue to travel by land to their homelands for summer vacation. This year, the YTB is carrying out various initiatives to ensure our citizens have a comfortable journey to and from the country.

YTB President Abdulhadi Turus visited the Kapıkule Border Gate, spoke with citizens entering the country, and received information about the project. Turus presented the citizens with Turkish flags and presented domestically produced UAV and UCAV models to the children. He was accompanied by AK Party Deputy Chairman and Istanbul MP Zafer Sırakaya. Turus held a press conference at the Edirne-to-Bulgaria section of the border gate, where he addressed issues of concern to citizens living abroad and made important statements.

We See that Crossings Are Fast and Safe

In a press statement, Turus stated that they are working to strengthen ties with the diaspora and that they are developing solution-oriented approaches to the problems they face. Explaining that they share the joy of citizens entering the country to spend their annual leave in their homeland, Turus said, “Turks living abroad are coming to Türkiye after a long and arduous journey. We are happy to see their joy. The YTB, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of Trade are working together here. The Republic of Türkiye continues its efforts in every field to serve our citizens abroad. In our consultations with our citizens, we see that the crossings are swift and safe.”

Our Citizens' Loyalty to Türkiye Grows Every Year

Turus also touched on the YTB's activities at border crossings, saying, "As YTB, we welcome citizens arriving from abroad at the border crossings with a smile." He also emphasized the loyalty of Turks living abroad to Türkiye, saying, "The sense of belonging of Turks living abroad to Türkiye never diminishes. Since 1961, our citizens' sense of belonging to Türkiye has never diminished; on the contrary, it has grown. Every year, when we look at the entry and exit statistics at Kapıkule alone, arrivals to our country increase slightly."

We Are Working on Solution-Focused Projects

Turus emphasized that solution-oriented approaches are being developed to address the problems faced by the diaspora, saying, “We are working on solutions to address the problems faced by Turks living abroad. We are working collaboratively with young people to determine the kinds of projects we will undertake to develop the Turkish language and build Turkish cultural infrastructure, particularly for the education and culture of our young people in the diaspora. We support youth movement programs that young people will undertake in Türkiye. We bring them to Türkiye through thematic camps.”

Turus noted that efforts are being made to combat rising racism and discrimination in Europe, saying, "We are conducting awareness programs to address how we can act together against rising racism in Europe and protect the rights of those there."

Emphasizing that diaspora policies are a cornerstone of Türkiye's foreign policy, Turus concluded: "The development of our diaspora, one of the main axes of our foreign policy, is aligned with the development of Türkiye itself. Therefore, we will continue to work with our citizens abroad in every field, God willing."
