Turks in Kosovo Gather for Iftar (Fast-Breaking)

YTB President Abdullah Eren also attended the traditional iftar (fast-breaking) event organized by the Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP) in Prizren. In his address, Mr. Eren called for participation in the census to be held in Kosovo from April 5 to May 17.
A fast-breaking event was held by the Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP) in Prizren, Kosovo. The fast-breaking event was attended by the President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) Abdullah Eren, the Leader of KDTP and Minister of Regional Development of Kosovo Fikrim Damka, the Ambassador of Türkiye to Pristina Sabri Tunç Angılı, KDTP MPs Fidan Brina Jilta and Enis Kervan as well as many guests.
Following the fast-breaking, YTB President Eren addressed the crowd. Pointing to the fact that dozens of projects have been implemented in Kosovo by the YTB, Eren noted that Türkiye also has Kosovar Turkish students studying in Türkiye.
Adding that the Turkish community in Kosovo continues to showcase the compassionate and caring aspects of the Turks, Mr. Eren said: "Kosovo is our shared history, culture, and homeland. Kosovo is the name of the homeland imbrued with the blood of our ancestors and adopted as a homeland with the seal of Islam through calls to prayer, that is ours in every sense. Our kins, who still bear the characteristics of Turks not only in Kosovo but also all around the Balkans, strive to keep their own culture and identity alive despite all sorts of challenges."
Emphasizing that YTB always tries to stand by cognate in Kosovo, as it does in the Balkans and all around the world, YTB President Eren also called for participation in the census to be held in Kosovo from April 5 to May 17. He also underlined the importance of preserving the centuries-old Turkish presence in Kosovo and passing it down to the future in the best way possible.
KDTP Leader and Kosovo Regional Development Minister Fikrim Damka began his remarks by congratulating the 73rd anniversary of the right to education in Turkish being regained in Kosovo.
Noting that March 20 stands for the resurrection and birth of the Turkish community in Kosovo, Damka said: "March 20, 1951, is the day we regained the right to education in Turkish in Kosovo. From that day to the present, the Turkish community in Kosovo has maintained its identity, its education, and its culture, which are still standing. Certainly, this is not only thanks to us but also to you, to our homeland. Today, we are much stronger and today our homeland always stands by us."
Türkiye's Ambassador to Pristina, Sabri Tunç Angılı also underlined the census to be held and added: "The Republic of Türkiye considers this census an opportunity. Knowing the actual number of Turks in Kosovo under the flag you inherited from previous generations and handed down to the next is a key turning point, a major milestone."
