A cooperation protocol was signed between the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) and the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) for the “Ummah Scholarship Program,” which will enable students from the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to pursue their education in Türkiye.

The protocol was signed in Istanbul during the 51st Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers by YTB President Abdullah Eren and ICYF President Taha Ayhan. According to the agreement, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral-level students from OIC member countries will have the opportunity to study for one or two semesters as exchange students with scholarships at leading universities in Türkiye.

Speaking about the program, YTB President Abdullah Eren stated: “Undergraduate, master’s, and PhD students from OIC member countries will receive short-term education through exchange programs at Türkiye’s top universities. We will host the bright minds of the Islamic world in Türkiye and continue to strengthen our bonds of brotherhood through knowledge.”

Eren noted that special attention is being paid to successful youth from crisis regions such as Palestine, Myanmar, and East Turkestan: “We are striving to provide
scholarships especially to students from the Islamic world. We are making an effort to host talented young people from specific areas—wounded parts of the Islamic geography such as Myanmar, Palestine, and East Turkestan. ICYF, now in its 20th year, has been doing impactful work for young people across the Islamic world. Through this protocol, we will host the youth directed to us by ICYF in short-term exchange programs within the Ummah Scholarship framework. God willing, we hope to expand the Ummah Scholarship Program to geographies beyond Türkiye.”

ICYF President Taha Ayhan emphasized that this program has long been a dream. He stated that within Islamic countries and among the youth of the ummah, there exists the talent, capacity, and capability to solve all challenges. He added that what these young people need is opportunity, and with the Ummah Scholarship Program, they will be given that opportunity.
