‘What is Missing Comes Out Once All Is Well’

Proudly keeping Turkish, the flag of our sound, flying, the magazine Telve is out for its 12th edition now! The magazine Telve covers 49 figures from Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Switzerland, the US, and Canada in this issue.

The 12^th issue of Telve offers a thorough review of the historical background of Andalusia linked to the Ottoman Empire and the intellectuals grown up in Andalusia. A special feature titled ‘Conversations over Turkish Literature in Austria on the 60^th Anniversary of Immigration’ examines the impact of Turkish language and literature in the sense of belonging in the context of immigration.

When we skim through the pages of Telve, an essay titled ‘Journey to the Roots’ by the writer Ayşe Nur Osmanoğlu, stands out as she broods over Koza Han Inn, which serves as a rendezvous between the past and the present, and informs that the inn, which has been home to the journey from one generation to another, is a timeless testimony to stories, and acts as a conduit into one’s spiritual world, and this boosts the sense of belonging.

As part of a dedicated story in Telve, one contemplates the Andalusian civilisation and explores the roots of the great plane tree and get to know the scholars grown up in Andalusia. On this issue of Telve, which is brimful of poems, stories, essays, book reviews & recommendations, Rumeysa Öztürk answers questions about her newly published short story book named “Viyana'da Gülümser Gibi” (Like Smiling in Vienna) and her career in literature and writing. In a special segment titled ‘Conversations over Turkish Literature in Austria on the 60^th Anniversary of Immigration’, young writers Belkıs Kılıç, Zümra Ufuk, Sena Şeker and Yasin Durat, who made it to Austria on the 60th anniversary of immigration to Austria not only with their suitcases but also with their native language, culture, music and literature, give heartfelt answers to Yasemin Kelkit's questions.

The poems featured on Telve include Aslıhan İnce’s “Meşgule Düşen Veyahut Yaşamak (Engaged in a Call or Living) from Hamburg/Germany, Merve Fatma Ören’s “Masallar Aynasında (On the Mirror of Fables)” from Berlin/Germany, Yasemin Kelkit’s “Tanrı Dağlarında (On the Mountains of Almighty)” from Bielefeld/Germany, Ubeydullah Çavuş’s “Porselen Bebek (Porcelain Baby)” from Hannover/Germany, as well as translated poems including “Lamma Bada Yatathanna” of Lisannüddin bin Hatip translated by Yeliz Özbay, and “Spanish Trilogy” of Rainer Maria Rilke translated by Fatma Türk from Mannheim/Germany.

The book review-recommendation section of Telve features Furkan Uzun from Alen, Germany and Zeynep Yaman from Minden, Germany for their work ‘Our Editors’ Picks and Merve Manaz's ‘Kayıp Gerdanlık: Endülüs (Lost Necklace: Andalusia)’.
