YTB Offers "Welcome and Farewell" Service at Border Gates

Çarşamba, Temmuz 16, 2025

Millions of our citizens, the vast majority of whom live in European countries, have begun their summer vacations by road to their homelands. As in previous years, the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) is undertaking various initiatives to address the challenges faced by our citizens during their arrival and departure from our country, ensuring they are warmly welcomed back to their homeland, and farewelled with a smile.

The Welcome and Farewell Program, first launched by YTB in 2018, aims to contribute to resolving the challenges faced by our citizens during their entry and exit processes, ensuring they are warmly welcomed in their homeland, and farewelled with peace of mind. The program was expanded in 2019 with work at the Serbian border crossings and has been expanded annually.

As part of the 2025 Welcome and Farewell Program, YTB activities have been concentrated at the Kapıkule and Pazarkule border crossings in Edirne as of July 4, 2025. Five personnel have been temporarily assigned to Kapıkule and one to Pazarkule, providing active support to our citizens on the ground. Welcome boards and YTB promotional stands have been set up to provide information to citizens.

Furthermore, starting July 18, the "YTB Microphone" application will be used to conduct interviews with our citizens upon entry and exit. These interviews will be shared at least twice a week on social media.

As part of the welcome and farewell activities, coordination is being carried out with the Edirne Governor's Office. The Governor's Office announced that it has implemented comprehensive measures to ensure the safe and peaceful travel of our citizens. According to a statement released on June 30, approximately 46,000 vehicles and 180,000 people have entered the Edirne border crossings since June 22. Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer also attended the opening ceremony held at Kapıkule on the same date.

The Governor's Office is distributing brochures and maps about Edirne to citizens at promotional stands. 320 security personnel and 850 customs personnel are on duty at the border crossings. Eight new platforms are being commissioned to expedite transactions. Furthermore, security checks are ongoing at rest stops.

Passport, driver's license, registration, and baggage checks are meticulously conducted at the Pazarkule border crossing, with an average crossing time of no more than 3-4 minutes.

Camera Identification Application

At land border crossings, our citizens are occasionally asked to disembark their vehicles for identification purposes. This practice has long been a standard security practice at air, land, and sea border crossings, and is implemented to ensure the accurate identification of those entering the country.

Through the joint efforts of the YTB and relevant public institutions, we aim to ensure that our citizens abroad travel to our country this year once again, with peace, safety, and enjoyment."
