YTB convened international students, who opt to study in Türkiye, in Ankara. International students were informed of the perspective of Türkiye on them during the event.

International students, who recieved Türkiye Scholarship in 2023, gathered on the occasion of the welcoming event held by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). YTB’s event was attended by academics and students who are set to study in a university following the completion of a one-year Turkish language course on a Türkiye Scholarship in 2023.

At the event held in Ankara, international students, who earned the eligibility to be a Türkiye Scholar after meeting the requirements last year and completed the Turkish language courses of 7 universities to learn to speak Turkish upon their arrival in Türkiye, were informed about the issues they were interested in ahead of their academic term starting in 2024. YTB officials informed Türkiye Scholarship beneficiaries of how Türkiye Scholarships scheme works and what they may need as part of their academic studies in Türkiye.

YTB officials responded to the questions raised by the students to study in Türkiye on a Türkiye Scholarship during the event and they were informed of the perspective of Türkiye on the mobility of international students. In addition, international students from various parts of the world, including Africa and South America were provided with guidance and recommendations on how to adapt to the country and graduate from their department on a successful note.

Delivering a speech at the event, President of YTB Mr. Abdullah Eren congratulated international students on earning a Türkiye Scholarship to begin with. Mr. Eren noted that there are 300,000 international students in Türkiye and that 120,000 people lodged an application in Türkiye Scholarships last year alone, and added that they view international students in Türkiye as a treasure entrusted with them by their parents and countries, and offered some motivation for the students in the audience for the time they will spend in Türkiye.

Offering an account of the reason why the welcoming event was being held just now for the international students who arrived in Türkiye a couple of months ago, Mr. Abdullah Eren said the organization wished the event to be held in Turkish for the international students.  Speaking of how they are blessed for the chance to study in Türkiye, Mr. Eren remarked that he is certain about the students he addressed to grow into highly successful graduates as it has been the case before and that they would join the Family of Türkiye Alumni upon their graduation.

President of YTB Mr. Eren added: “We will meet with you more often. We will see each other a lot from now on. I always say this when I meet with the youth. This is the prime of your life and you have come to another country, embarking on an adventure. I hope you all will succeed”. Noting that there are many who hold high positions upon their studies in Türkiye, Mr. Eren listed Somalia, Iran, Afghanistan, and Macedonia as cases in point.

Reminding that YTB’s office based in the district of Hamamönü, Ankara is open for international students seven days a week, Mr. Eren noted that they are free to use it as a social venue to study in. Mr. Eren also added that students should feel free to contact the presidency for any challenge they face.
The international students, who seemed to speak Turkish fluently, and President of YTB Abdullah Eren enjoyed some fun times at the event.
