African Media Representatives Training Program (AFMED)
AFMED is a short-term training program for early and mid-career professionals in the media sector. AFMED program is organized by Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) in cooperation with the African Researchers Association (AFAM), African Coordination and Training Center (AKEM) and Anadolu Agency (AA).
AFMED program aims to enchance cooperation between Turkey and African countries by supporting experience sharing in the field of media. To ensure this, it offers both practical and theoretical training for 3 weeks duration and includes stakeholders visits, internship opportunities in the leading institutions of Turkey.
Besides, this knowledge sharing-based seminars and courses, AFMED also provides opportunity to empower cultural interaction through additional cultural events and city tours.
Application Criteria
• Eligible Countries
Applications will be received from 14 African countries: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya in North Africa; In Sub-Saharan Africa, Chad, Ethiopia, South Africa, Kenya, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Somalia, Sudan.
• Eligible Groups
Applicants must be currently working in the field of media (Media related public institutions, private sector, NGO’s.)
• Age Criteria
Applicants muts be under the age of 40.
• Language
Fluency in English is required for the program.
• The application form must be completed in English.
• Applications completed handwriting will not be processed.
• Applicants should take a short video recording of up to 5 minutes to introduce themselves and explain why they would like to join the program.
• The program will be held between October 21 – November 12, 2019 in Istanbul and Ankara.
