The opening meeting of the "Turkey-EU-NATO Relations Certified Training Program" prepared by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) to enable young people living abroad to get to know the European Union and NATO more closely and to learn about career opportunities in these organizations was held. YTB President Abdullah Eren spoke at the opening of the program held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium. In his speech, Eren pointed out that YTB's primary area of responsibility is the Turkish diaspora abroad. YTB President Eren added that the Turkish diaspora, unlike others, does not create victimization.

The Turkish Diaspora is a Qualified Community

Eren stated that the Turkish diaspora is a qualified community that migrates for economic reasons and has strong ties with both the country of origin and Turkey as of the third and fourth generation. Stating that the labor migration in the 1960s created a new "European Turkish" identity, Eren said that the achievements of Turks abroad are carefully followed from Turkey. Stating that the contributions of citizens abroad to Turkey are very great, Eren said, "It is in your hands to make these contributions more refined and of higher quality in the coming period."

In his speech, Eren said that many Turkish youth residing abroad are doing research to live in Turkey.

Eren stated that the program provides career support to qualified Turkish young people residing abroad and that the contributions of young people to Turkey will increase with the increase in their awareness of international organizations.

33 participants from 8 EU countries were invited to the 3-day program, which will end on 25 May, who were found successful in terms of their education and language levels. The participants will be personally trained by Ambassadors Mehmet Kemal Bozay and Basat Öztürk, Permanent Representatives to the EU and NATO, as well as academics who are experts in their fields, and will visit the European Parliament, the Council of the EU and NATO headquarters.
