Türkiye Alumni Undertakes Important Tasks in the Reconstruction of Syria

YTB President Abdullah Eren stated that Syrian graduates who received education in Türkiye played critical roles in the restructuring of their country and wished success to the newly appointed Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Governor of Aleppo, both of whom graduated from Turkish universities.

Following the end of the Ba’ath regime in Syria, the country has entered a historical process. Türkiye Alumni takes on important roles in the process of rebuilding Syria. In the new period, Esad Hasan Eş-Şeybânî, a graduate of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria, and Azzam Garib, a graduate of the Faculty of Theology of Bingöl University, was appointed as the Governor of Aleppo. President of Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) Abdullah Eren also made important statements on his social media account regarding the educational support and regional cooperation provided by Türkiye.

YTB ​​President Eren pointed out that after the end of the 61-year-long Ba’ath regime in Syria, the country entered a historical transformation process. Eren explained that the educational support provided by Türkiye as a result of the Türkiye Scholarships and Türkiye Alumni programs carried out under the coordination of YTB constitutes one of the important building blocks of this process.

Stating that Syrian graduates who received education in Türkiye played critical roles in the restructuring of their country, Eren said, “Türkiye Alumni have a great meaning for both the brotherly Syrian people and Türkiye-Syria relations. In this critical period, which constitutes a historical turning point, we were pleased that Assad Hasan Al-Shaybani, a graduate of Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University, was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria, and Azzam Garib, a graduate of the Faculty of Theology of Bingöl University, was appointed as the Governor of Aleppo. I believe that both of will take important steps that will shape the future of Syria," said Mr. Eren in his speech.
