The 17th edition of the Austrian Cultural Fair was held in the town of Dornbirn. On the occasion of the fair held under the theme of the 60th Anniversary of Immigration to Austria, YTB President Abdullah Eren signalled that communities that manage to keep the culture of coexistence on its feet will be here to stay.

Held by the Austrian Islamic Federation (AIF) for this year’s edition, the 17th Austrian Cultural Fair was organized in the town of Dornbirn, the state of Vorarlberg. Held under the theme of the 60th Anniversary of Immigration to Austria and hosting events to promote Turkish culture, the fair was joined by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB). YTB set up a booth to promote its actions taken for Turks abroad and inform the attendees on the occasion of the fair joined by many people and Turkish entrepreneurs.

YTB President Abdullah Eren addressed the crowd at the Austrian Cultural Fair attended by Ozan Ceyhun, the Ambassador of Türkiye to Vienna, as well as the Turkish community members in Austria. Informing the attendees of the services provided by YTB for the Turkish nationals abroad, Abdullah Eren said the non-governmental organizations are the most precious assets abroad. Abdullah Eren noted that Turkish presence in Europe has marked its 60th anniversary, along with Turkish NGOs and added: ‘The Republic of Türkiye led by the President, adopts policies without any discrimination between any Turkish nationals residing abroad and those residing in Türkiye.’

In his address, Abdullah Eren said YTB takes actions for Turkish nationals abroad and helps them make their voices heard, and added that the efforts of the modern-day 5th generation are as important as the efforts of the first generation that migrated to Europe. Referring to the case when the first round of Turkish workers who migrated to Europe could not even find a mosque to pray in, and thus had to perform their first Eid prayer in a church, Mr. Eren continued: “That was simply to perform an Eid prayer back then. Now not only mosques but also schools and education venues are built and the Turkish NGOs make efforts to offer solutions for any challenge facing the Turkish community.”

YTB President Abdullah Eren argued that the world is going through a difficult patch and added that communities that manage to get to know each other better and keep the culture of coexistence on its feet will be here to stay and the Turks in Europe will play a major role in the future of Europe. Reminding of the event to be held by the Turkish Embassy in Vienna on May 28 to mark the 60th anniversary of Immigration to Austria, Mr. Eren wished many happy returns on the 60th anniversary.
