My grandfather couldn't get his driver's license for a long time since he was illiterate. He enrolled in a driver's license course and took the exams without understanding the lessons. But he always failed and could never pass the test. Converted to Church: Fazıl Ahmet Pasha (Vizier) Mosque in Heraklion, Crete
Converted into a church named ‘Agiou Titou’ in 1924, Fazıl Ahmet Pasha (Vizier) Mosque still serves as a church. Described as ‘a high-rising and precious work of art’ by Evliya Çelebi and having stood still as shown in a postcard dating to 1913, the two-balcony minaret was demolished up to the pedestal when it was turned from a mosque into a church and had a bell tower built on top of it. see more..

This Time It Is Our Women Making Their Way to Germany

Hushed Lament of Macedonian Turks: “Yücelciler”
The communist regime had its way. The organization, which lost four devoted intellectuals and hundreds of its members were imprisoned, lapsed into silence with great sorrow. In fact, the issue caused great trauma for the Macedonian Turks. There was no lament for Yücelciler. Their name was not mentioned, and all Macedonian Turks, fearing an end like theirs, had to or pretended to forget them for about 40 years. see more..
